When I wake up in the morning, I need at least an hour that involves a few cups of coffee before I feel civilized enough to even talk to someone else. People thought I was joking when I would say that, but it was my sad reality for years. In fact, it was not until I saw a chiropractor in Chicago because of a shoulder injury in a car accident that I discovered that it had a lot more to do with the sleep I was getting at night rather than the coffee I was drinking in the morning.
The chiropractor that I saw treated my shoulder injury just fine, but it was what he did for my sleep issues that really amazed me. I thought that I was just a very light sleeper, but it turns out that the misalignment in my back was causing me to be restless throughout the night. I just was not able to get into a comfortable position, so I woke up feeling almost as tired as I had felt when I went to bed the previous night. He gave me a complete examination and did some imaging tests, then he put together a plan that completely changed me.
He did some manipulations twice a week on my back and neck, and I had massages done once a week. I was also given a list of exercises to do at home, which I did faithfully. I wanted to feel alive again, so I was willing to do whatever it took to get me to that point. It honestly did not take that long before I was feeling like the old me again. I only go once every couple of weeks now for an adjustment, and it has really helped me more than I can say.
